Top Democratic leaders declined to answer questions about newly surfaced vulgar Reddit posts attributed to Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, a development that could complicate the party's efforts to unseat Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., told Fox News Digital he had not seen the posts when asked whether Platner had become a liability for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections. "I haven't seen no posts," Jeffries said.

The Reddit posts, from an account with the username "P-Hustle" that Platner has claimed ownership of, include graphic sexual comments and mocking language about a Purple Heart recipient who was nearly killed in combat. The approximately 2,000 posts were archived by the Maine Monitor after being deleted from the platform.

What the Right Is Saying

Republican groups have moved quickly to capitalize on the resurfaced posts. A super PAC backing Collins' reelection campaign, Pine Tree Results, has spent $4 million on attack ads against Platner and released a new advertisement this week directing voters to a website highlighting his controversial internet comments.

Collins' campaign has highlighted the posts as evidence that Platner holds extreme views incompatible with serving in the Senate. The Republican National Committee pointed to the content as part of broader efforts to frame Democrats as out of step with mainstream voters in Maine.

Conservative commentators have noted that Democratic leaders' silence on the matter reflects an unwillingness to disavow a candidate who could potentially win the seat, even at political cost. Some Republican strategists argue the controversy strengthens Collins' position heading into November.

What the Left Is Saying

Progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., declined to say whether she would rescind her endorsement of Platner despite the continued emergence of past obscenities. Warren had publicly backed Platner in the Maine Democratic primary against former Gov. Janet Mills, who withdrew from the race last month.

Warren defended both Platner and her endorsement in an interview with CNBC after initial controversial posts resurfaced. She referenced his apology and said voters were evaluating "not who Graham Platner was, but who Graham Platner is today."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., also declined to answer repeated questions about the posts. Schumer had initially endorsed Mills before she ended her campaign, choosing her over Platner in the race against Collins.

Democratic strategists have argued that Platner's candidacy remains vital to party efforts of winning the Maine Senate seat. The party has shown little public effort to distance itself from the candidate despite ongoing revelations.

What the Numbers Show

Pine Tree Results has spent $4 million on anti-Platner advertising as of this report.

The Maine Monitor archived 2,014 posts from Platner's deleted Reddit account, labeled "P-Hustle."

Platner trails Collins in recent polling for the Maine Senate race. Mills dropped out last month after falling behind in primary polls.

Warren publicly endorsed Platner before the latest batch of posts emerged.

The Bottom Line

The continued silence from top Democratic leaders on Platner's Reddit history leaves questions about party unity heading into November's elections. Warren and Jeffries have neither withdrawn support nor explicitly condemned the candidate, while Schumer has maintained his endorsement of Mills despite her exit from the race.

Platner remains the presumptive Democratic nominee against Collins, a seat Republicans consider essential to maintaining their Senate majority. What happens next depends on whether additional revelations emerge or whether party leaders feel compelled to address the controversy directly.
